Hello and welcome! I'm Ms. Gelman, the school counselor for sixth- and seventh-grade students for the 2014 - 2015 school year. I was born in Monterrey, Mexico but was raised in a small city in south Texas. I moved to San Antonio to complete my undergraduate studies at St. Mary's University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I moved to Chapel Hill in May 2009 to earn a Master of Education in School Counseling from the University of North Carolina; and I've been here ever since!
I am primarily the school counselor for sixth- and seventh-grade students, but my door is open for all grade levels. I believe that we as a community need to start sharing the responsibility for the success of our children. The more sources of support each student has, the more successful he or she will be!
I am currently the chair of our School Improvement Team and the PBIS committee. I create the monthly newsletters for Frink, head the Mentoring Program and our Student Council, and maintain this website. I love being a part of the Frink family and look forward to getting to know and working with you all. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any assistance.
Make sure to check our page regularly as I'll be updating it with new information throughout the year.
